SPICY TOMATO CHUTNEY

Basic recipes

700 g (1l/2 lb) green tomatoes, skinned and roughly chopped
225 g (8 oz) cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped
1 large onion, skinned and chopped
125 g (4 oz) soft dark brown sugar
125 g (4 oz) sultanas
50 g (2 oz) raisins
5 ml (I level tsp) salt
200 ml (7 fl oz) malt vinegar
2 small pieces of dried root ginger
1.25 ml (l/4 level tsp) cayenne pepper
2.5 ml (1/2 level tsp) mustard powder
2.5 ml (l/2 level tsp) chilli powder
